How The Coronavirus Pandemic Has Changed Our Lives

I remember my mom telling me about the coronavirus. She was very worried about it and I brushed her off with a brief – it will be fine mom. A month later, it was not fine. The country has closed, people stayed at home and were afraid to even go to the grocery store. I remember how we wiped anything we brought from the outside world with antibacterial wipes. Our lives have changed. We had to learn to adjust.

Isolation

From day to day we had to adjust to being isolated from the outside world. We were reliant on the people living with us and we spent most of our time in our apartments or houses. What used to be our relaxing space now became our workspace. The first few weeks have been a readjusting period but after that has passed the feeling of isolation would often set in. Or at least for me, it would.

No Social Life

With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, our social life ended. No longer could we go out with our friends or plan fun activities for the weekend. Let’s be honest, it was depressing at times. Luckily for us, we live in an age of cell phones, facetime, and wifi. So we could still keep in touch with our friends and loved ones. I even had a few “girls nights in” on facetime with my friends. It wasn’t the same as going out but it was still fun.

Rediscovery Of Values

On the other hand, the coronavirus pandemic also brought positive things into our lives. We got to spend more time with our families and loved ones. We got to have a lot of quality time together. See our kids play and grow up right in front of our eyes. We also got to realize the real values in life. Now we recognize the importance of health, the bond of family, and the togetherness of the community.

The coronavirus pandemic has definitely put us all on trial with our patience, compassion, understanding, and adapting to the new life realities. But I think that we have come out on the other side, stronger than we were before.
